Client

The client was a diversified 1000 crores company engaged in sugar, power generation, water treatment, etc. The company was setting up a co-generation plant at one of its sugar units in North India. The company was trying to automate its plant activities with strong emphasis on state-of-the-art plant and machinery.

Role

The client was looking the Profit Center Head for the power plant who had the right mix of technical and managerial skills to manage large sugar cogeneration unit.

Challenge

Once the right person had been identified and liked by the client, it was a challenge convincing the person to take up the offer. The candidate being a South Indian was not keen to move to the North because of family, culture and other concerns.
What we did

We managed to find the candidate, after an exhaustive research, with the right blend of technical knowledge and managerial skills and experience of handling co-generation plants, that too for sugar. The client liked the candidate and made an offer which was almost twice the candidate’s existing compensation. The candidate accepted the offer initially but later on declined it citing personal reasons. The candidate said that he was looking at starting his own business and was not too keen on relocating to north because of family reasons. Also, he was not satisfied with the compensation offered. We advised him of his career prospects in the role/organization, consulted his wife, got him information about various schools in and around the place of work, renegotiated the compensation between him and the client and finally made him to join on board.
